MESOPOTAMIA CAMPAIGN

Advices from Persia state British troops successfully engaged Bolsheviks at Jungali. Forces at Yuz Baschichaiton, Karvisi and Resht Road advanced from Mesopotamia. It is stated a British column from Hilhab occupied Maisaiyab after some resistance. Tribesmen are making isolated attacks on various places. '’Concerted action appears to have ceased. While tire acting-General officer at Telafar was parleying with a, leading chief, some Arabs treacherously fired on the cavalry escort, killing Captain Carter of the Eleventh Lancers and six Indian troopers. Tim cavalry escort returned the fire, killing eight Arabs including the leading chief. INDIAN REINFORCEMENTS. (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) SIMLA August 15. Reinforcements of infantry have been sent to Mesopotamia consisting of three brigades, each containing 3 Indian battalions and one field artillery brigade with the usual auxiliary troops.
