SOUTH WESLAND NOTES
iProm a Correspondent.;
The news of the wreck of thp “'RaeVpa” op thp Hpkitika. bar created quite a regrettable sensation in the far South where the services of the boat and her very popular Capt. were much appreciated. That the Paeroa- would meet her Waterloo "at Hokitika’ her headquarters, was never anticipated, Okarito and Okurq bar>j at neap tides were generally looked upon as her danger zone. Capt. Karl had become very popular in the trade and in conjunction his crew rendered good service to the set-, tiers. It will be a great- sot hack to progress in the South if a suitable boat is not procured to take up the running. Now especially as there is a movement on foot of timber development. South Westland, July 28th., 19217.
