BRITAIN’S ATTITUDE.

STATEMENT BY LLOYD GEORGE

(Received This Day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, August 5.

In the House of Commons, Hon Lloyd Georged stated Government-had not jet received a reply to the telegram, to the Soviet of July 29th. He read the lat- ' est British telegnm to the Soviet, Stating if it insisted on peace conditions being settled between Poland and Russia to the exclusion of other powers thp basis whereon it was proposed to conduct negotiations in London would disappear and the project for a Conference would fall to the ground. Also if the Soviet took advantage of delay to continue the advance into Ethongraphioal Poland, Government would be driven to the conclusion that the Soviet did not intend to respect the liberty and independence of Poland, and the situa- \ tion contemplated in the Government’s telegram to Tchitcherm of 20th July would have arrived. , He jidded that he and Hon.
