A DOUBLE MARKET

(Ely Taicgraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:- 0 Beef.—There was a very large yarning but not too many for butcher’s requirements for a two week’s supply. There were many good bullocks. A record was established for Addington by one on account of Trotter of Southland realising £204. Another on account of Dean’s Estate making £O7. Other good bullocks sold from £3O to £sl, ordinary best stores showed a slight improvement on last week’s quotations. Store cattle—A medium yarding but good sale all round: Store c<> vv » £0 to £9; 3 and 4 yrs. old bullocks to £ls/10/-; 2 and 3 yrs. steers £lO/15/to £l2/10!-; 18 months steers to £7/15/-; ditto heifers £6/5/- to £7; yearlings £4/7/6 to £5/10/-. Store sheep.—Another large entry, the market all round was easier and all lots especially inferior and dealers sorts, hard to "sell. Forward wethers sold to 35/-; best hoggets to 28/6; a few good ewe hoggets 32/-. Not many good ewes were offering, one good lino, 4, 6 and S tooth making 41/6; others 27/- to 34/6; inferior 16/- upwards. The general quality of the yarding was not ’ p to the average. Fat Sheep—A very heavy' yarding, but not so many show sheep offering as in previous seasons. However the market was fairly firm throughout, but towards the finish it eased considerably and a good few were withdrawn. Best show wethers from £4 to £9/10/-; prime 45/- to 63/-; medium 40/- to 44/6; light and unfinished 36/- to 39/-; ewes same proportion. There will be no sale F or a fortnight.
