TUNNEL RATES.

EXPERTS TO DECIDE, • . \ t (Our Own Correspondent-) WELLINGTON, July 29. Hon. J. G. Coates was questioned by Mr Holland regarding the Otira Tunnel trouble. In reply he said the Bealey men were working on wages. Increases had been offered them but were not accepted. He wished to be fair to the men, but he would be guided by his experts as tp the nature of the work, and he would not be pushed into the position of having to give what $ anybody of the workers might ask. If the engineers reported that the Bealey country was not similar to Otira, he. would stand by his engineers. Mr HoJland.“Even if the Tupnei work is held up.” Hon. Coates: “I jeapnot help that. The experts must decide.”
