AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES. WEDNESDAY. At the Princess Theatre on AVednesday Pollards will present Alice Joyce, the classic beauty of the screen in “That Winchester AVoinan.” The title is suggestive of just what the production contains ! romance, intrigue, the unusual aiul the unexpected, mystery, tragedy, love. Alico Joyce paints a telling picture that shows how utterly false and wrong it is to judge by appearances. Percy Marmont, the leading man is well known in the Antipodes, being Australian born and bred, and is an actor of rare ability. It is the story of a strong honourable woman, who cleared the clouds from her own name, and then stood ready to sacrifice everything she had so dearly bought to save a young girl from the threatening blight. of dishonour. Alice Joyce, the classic beauty of the screen, is appealingly lovely in this picture, and has the sympathy of her audience throughout the whole of the story. On Thursday the star attraction will be Mabel Normand in the Goldwyn feature “The Pest,” with Mabel of course in the title role. She richly earns the designation, and romps through live reels of rich comedy, with a touch of genuine pathos in it. The Pest is a little rural slavey, a kind of household drudge and maid of all work, and the antics she gets up to would make the proverbial feline indulge in paroxyisms of mirth. Mabel is charming, livable, and of conrso, intensely funny and her performances all through are greeted with roars of laughter.

PICTURES. TO-NIGHT. -“TRUE BLUE.” William Farnimi, in “ True Blue,” will be the attraction at the Princess Theatre to-morrow night. He does not take them with him, for the reason that lie believes he married “ beneath his station.” This young son grows up on a ranch in the boundless AYcst and becomes the central figure in this drama if life. This character is played by Mr William- Fa mum. Over in England, the titled father, on learning of the death of his American wife, lias married again and lias another son a dissipated profligate young man. Through a strange series of incidence the half brothers are brought together on the AA r estern ranch—one with deep resentment in his heart; the, other, weak and unconscious of the relationship.
