BOSS NEWS.
1 (Uur Own Correspondent.) MEDIOA/L OFFICER. A public meeting was held in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday evening lor the purpose of receiving a report from the committee recently set up for the purpose of endeavouring to secure a doctor for the district. The Mayor (S. IJ.1 J . Evans, Esq.) presided over an attendance of about 30 residents. 'The committee presented their report showing the steps taken so far, which was unanimously approved of by the meeting. The same committee was asked to continue in office in the meantime until something definite was achieved. It was decided to canvass the district for contributions as soon as it was known a doctor was available. Thirty pounds was subscribed at the meeting, and it is anticipated there will be no difficulty in raising the amount asked for by the Charitable Aid Board, viz., £l5O. A hearty vote of thanks was passed, in favour of the committc for their services, and the meeting terminated.
SALE YARDS. A meeting was held the same evening to consider the matter of erecting stock sale yards in Ross. This meeting was also well attended, several auctioneers from Greymouth and Hokitika also being present. The Mayor, occupied the chair, and introduced Mr Christie and Mr Houston, who gave details in connection with the erection and conduct of sale yards. A resolution was carried that: “A company be formed, to.be called the Ross Co-operative Sale Yards Ltd.,with a capital of £500; 2s 6d per share payable Mi application, 2s 6d on allotment, and the balance at not more than 2s Gd per share per month.” Messrs S. P. Evans, ,T. Minehan, John Butler, H. McMullan, John Ren, G. P. Rea and G. Sutherland wore appointed provisional directors. Messrs Park and Murdoch were nppinted solicitors, and A. W. Peebles was appointed secretary. Tlie Ross Borough Council are providing. a suitable site of G acres near the railway sation, and it is anticipated the sale yards will bo an established fact in a very short time.
