The Westland Land Hoard debated ;it some length yesterday, an application for transfer of three properties of T. .1. Hnllahan in Wataroa district, which had been purchased by public auction recently by T. W. Hutler. It was stated in evidence that the applicant was landless, that his father was financing, the purchase and that applicant was going to work the land himself. The Commissioner stated that the firm of Puller and Co. had over 2,100 acres, and he. considered that it was not in the interests of the district to allow of further aggregation. Mr Butler (brother of nppliI cant) who was present, said it appeared applicant was going to he penalised for telling the truth. His brother had no interest in the firm of Butler and Co., and had been engaged in a butchery business. After discussion, the Board divided op a motion by Mr Ward, seconded by Mr Mailiiison, that the transfer he granted ; an amendment by the Chairman’, seconded by Mr Houliston, that the application be refused.
