The Premiers conference has reached a deadlock over the railway .unification proposals. They have decided upon an extension of the Carnival Tinlay Railway with a view of testing whether a third rail device would be safely applicable to tbe lines. The cost of tbe experiment, (between five and ten thousand) is to be borne on a per capita basis, among the participants. The con. Terence favoured a substantial unification of machinery for the collection of Federal and State taxes in place of the present separate collections. THE PRINCE OF WALES. -~~ HOBART, July 19. The Prince of AVales arrived and was enthusiastically welcomed. The route of the Royal procession was gaily decorated and lined by many thousands of people. VICTORIAN RACES. MELBOURNE, July 19.
