HOUSING IN INVERCARGILL. INVERCARGILL, July 5.

Of late there lias been an impression abroad that the selling values of residences in Invercargill are on the -laoline. This, however, was not file opinion expressed by a house agent of. wide experience, in conversation with a reporter to-dav. On .the contrary, lip declared houses were ever increasing in value. It was true that the rise was not so decided as that which had taken place some 13 months ago, when the first jump occurred. Nine months ago. ho. said, there was sold, a house n his hands for £IOSO. It was again sold a week ago for £llBO, and the purchaser had made a bargain. Tins was a typical example of how houses were increasing. The demand was not as keen as it had been some months ago, but it was steady, due largely to the number of marriages and to the sale of farms bringing many country people to the towns. The accommodation question generally is still a big one. Very few liousjs are in course of erection, and the practice of occupying rooms has grown considerably amongst young couples, ns well as amongst the single class, win find good board difficult to procure at a reasonable rate.
