OTIRA TUNNEL.

(Per Press Association.) NO SETTLEMENT REACHED. CMR ISTCIIUCII, July 17. The workers at the Healey .end of the Otira tunnel, who are negotiating for new rates with the Public. Works Engineer (Mr A. Dinnie) who was sent specially from Wellington to deal with the tunnel dispute, have not yet agreed upon the price to he paid them. The organiser of the Canterbury Progress League received tbe following telegram to-day from tiie men’s secretary: —“ Rinnie’s offer of £4 9s per foot less than Otira end refused by us. Our offer of £2 1.7 s less than Otira refused liv DinniV.”
