STRIKE OF N.S.W. SHEARERS.' SYDNEY, July 17. T!u* shearers on the’ Midkiti station, Moree, have ceased work, following on the refusal of a demand for increased rates. A meeting of .slicnrcr.-' in Sydney resolved to demand a weekly wage for all classes of employment in connection with shearing, and also ten per cent increase in wages wages for every week or part of a week. ONE BIG UNION. , SYDNEY, July 17. A ballot of the Federated Seamen's Union resulted largely against joining the One Big Union. An alternative proposal in favour of throwing all their energies into the Transport Workers’ Federation was carried. It is officially stated that the Government refuses to recognise the One Big Union as a bona fide trade union.
