DR, AIANNJLX SPEAKS
NEW YORK, July 10.
A telegram from l’latsburg to the New York “American” reports that Dr. Mannix in a speech there declared: "1 will not use mincing words regarding Ireland. Tlio time for mincing words is over for ever. The United States must choose between the British Kale of might and do Valera’s Government of right. I see no way blit for America to recognise do Valera’s rule and I hope this will occur soon. Ireland lias the.same grievance against Eng land, which the American revolutionaries of 1770 had, only they are ten Limes greater. The England who was their enemy is your enemy, and shall be your enemy for all time. The British propagandists, have tried to discredit. me by saying that I am host'llto American institutions. AVe were on an American ship, under the dear American Flag, when someone made an excuse to sing the American and Britidi Anthems, tlie American Anthem being included as an excuse for the singing of “God Save the King”. We stood for “Star-Spangled Banner”; we sat a lien they beyan “God Save the King.” I would stand, as a matter of courtesy lit other circumstances; but I do not think I am bound to rise when some illbred person sings an anthem to embarrass me.”
BOLIVIAN REVOLUTION. SANTIAGO, July 14
The Chilian Government has received a confirmation of the reported overthrow of the Bolivian Government. President Guerra took refuge in the United States Legation, which asked the revolutionaries to guarantee his safety. It is understood that the Revolutionary Government will make the Bolivian Foreign policy similar to that of the United States, especially with reference to the League of Nations.
