“ONLY MEN WHO FOUGHT.” LONDON, July 7
Th e Daily Mail publishes a private letter from Australia, in which the writer stated that many unpleasant scenes were likely to occur during the test matches unless the English eleven was formed exclusively' of men who saw service during the war. The letter continued: “Scientific bar. racking was invented in Australia, in which she still leads the world.”
The Daily Mail suggests that the M.C.C. should accept the hint, otherwise there would be bound to he trouble. The paper recalls that when the A.I.F. team was playing in England it dropped a pretty strong hint of a similar nature regarding opposing teams.
BEST TEAM WANTED. (Received this day at 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Tho Board of Control cabled tho Mary lebone Club that Australia wants the best team, irrespective of other issues.
