(Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, July 10. The death is recorded of Admiral Lord Fisher.

Admiral John Fisher suffered a long illness. During the winter he went to Riviera and returned to London "P parently improved. He resumed correspondence in tWe press with great vigor. llsi fatal illness was brief, but its seriousness was evident from the outset. An operation was performed last night. Admiral Fisher was ' conscious to the end. A memorial service will be held in the Abbey on Tuesday. Newspapers unanimously acclaim Admiral Fisher as a great national hero The relatives are receiving enormous numbers of messages of sympathy ircluding telegrams from the King and Queen, and ‘Hon. Lloyd George. [Admiral Lord Fisher, G. 0.8.. G.C. L 0., 0.M., “the Kitchener of tin; Navy”, says Lord Rbseberry. Was n the Crimean War; lias been Controller of the Navy and Senior Naval Lord of the Admiralty 1904-10 distinguished naval administrator; closely identified with the cause of reform; possesses both theoretical and practical experience, while Ins administrative skill is unequalled; is a master of gunnery, and has, at one time or another, held almost every important position in the Navy, afloat and ashore. Under his control of the Navy, the Dreadnought policy was introduced, and also the plan of scrapping old ships instead of keeping them on the Navy List Retired 1910. Served on Special Naval Committee, 1912. Appomted Hon Colonel of Ist. Royal Naval Brigade, Sept., 1914. Returned to I the Admiralty as First Sea Lord durino- the war, but resigned in May 1915 Became in July, Chairman of the .Inventions Board. His wife died in July 1918.]
