(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.- -COPYRIGHT, j THE COUNCIL. The Council'met at 2.30 p.m. Hon MacGregor introduced the Juries Act Amendment 'Bill, whioli provides for a majority verdict in specified cases. The Bill was read a first time. The Address-in-lleply debate was continued by Hon Garland who spoke of education, urging the need for evolving a grading scheme which would give efficiency its due. With regard to the fin_ ance, the country was buoyant enough to stand a progressive public works policy. This closed the debate and the Address was carried. ‘ The Council nose at 3.30 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m., and proceeded with the debate on the Ad-dress-in-Reply, the speakers being Messrs Sullivan, Mitchell, Harris, Savage, Potter and Veiteh. . "The debate was adjourned on the motion of Hon Parr, and the House rose at 1.30 a.m. *
