N.Z. ALLIANCE.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 7. The New Zealand Alliance Convention continued to-day. An address was given by ill- A. S. Adams on legislation. He stated that the present demand of the party should he for a n»w electoral roll for the Dominion and for a compulsory registration of votes. He asserted that the alternative of State, control must he eliminated from the ballot paper.. He said only two issues, those of continuance and prohibition to be decided, on a bare majority vote, should be submitted to the people. He considered no sound reason could be given for retention of the State Control issue, as less than 6 per cent ot the people voted in its favour at last poll, and 94. per cent of voters opposed its alterations in the present Act were suggestedThe following resolution was passed: “That if more than two issues on the licensing question are submitted to the people, the issues ought- to be. decided by preferential voting; but if this he not agreed to, we urge upon the Government to remove the State Control issue, and that the two issues ot Continuance and Prohibition he submitted to the people at the next licensing poll.” A resolution >vas passed referring to breaches of the six o’clock law, and sugr ge,sting that steps he taken to secure'its enforcement.

A resolution of sympathy was passed with the Prime Minister in the sickness of liis son.

'Revs J. Dawson and W. J. Cdmrie introduced the subject of finance. The budget was agreed to. Mr A. S. Adams was unanimously elected President for'the coming year, Vice-Presidents and members of the National Council and the Executive were also appointed.
