GOVERNOR-GENERAL
A FAREWELL MESSAGE,
(Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, This Day
“ On tile eve of sailing from these islands for the Old Country, Lady Liverpool and I desire to convey to the people of New Zealand our best wishes for their welfare and prosperity, and to assure them that though separated from them we shall never forget all the kindnesses which we have received during our stay among them. I am convinced that though every part of the Empire has had to face most stupendous difficulties in the last few years, the nation will cheerfully surmount the obstacles which still remain, and New Zealand, in common with all the Possessions of the Crown, will manfully take her share in solving the problems which confront the world. We leave New Zealand, which has been our home for so long, with deep regret, but we hope some day to revisit its shores and renew our association with tho inhabitants, for whom we shall always entertain nothing hut feelings of genuine affection and regard. Kia Ora.—(Signed) Liverpool.”
