BREAD PRICES.
AN INCREASE FROM MONDAY. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This nay.. It is announced by the President of the Board of Trade (Hon Leo) that the Board had given careful consideration to the statement made by a deputation of bakers to the Minister a week ago, with reference to the. pries' of bread. Full enquiry had been made by the Board respecting the accuracy of the position presented bv the bakers and as to what would ho a fair reasonable increase tin the price of bread, in consequence of the increased cost of production, as detailed by the bakers. The Board decided to sanction an increase in price of the two lb. loaf as follows:
North Island—Cash over counter (present price of 51) new price 6d. Delivered (present price G',d) new price 6sd. South Island—Cash over counter (present price s',d) new price 5.1 d. delivered (present price 5Jd) new price 6d. This means that the North Island .counted - sales will be increased by a half penny, and delivery sales and all sales in South Island by a. farthing. The increased prices will he chargeable from Monday.
