GERMAN PRESIDENCY

BERLIN, June 28

President Ebert, in accordance with the German constitution, has asked the Reichstag to fix a date for the new Presidential election.

The coming to the election has roused discussion on the likely candidates. The Majority Socialists will probably urge President Ebert to stand for another term, but it is doubtful whether he will consent. It is understood that General Von Hindeiiburg has asked the ex-Kaiser’s permission to become a candidate. Tlio Conservatives will have a strong candidate. The one ' suggested is Prince von Buelow, but he will probably decline as he Intends living in Switzerland.
