ITS REC()MMENI)ATIONS. (l’er Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 2(5. The Conciliation Committee appointed to consider matters in dispute between the railway officers and the Department concluded their sittings yesterday, and recommends the following “ That the bonus now being paid to members of the First Division be cancelled, as on and after April Ist, 1020, and a bonus at the rate of £2O per annum be granted each member of Grade 8 (cadets).
That a bonus at the rate of CSO per annum for Grades 2 to 7, inclusive, and to captains, mates and engineers of the Lake Wakatipu service as on and after April Ist, 1920. - “That the bonus recommended for Grades 2 to 7 be taken into consideration in respect to the salaries of members of Grade 1.
Lodging allowances for sub-grades 1, 2, and 3 be £4O, £3O and £2O, repectivcIy ; married members minimum rate of pay to be £lB7 10s per annum. Casual clerks to be eligible for advances to the minimum rate of'pay, provided for grade
" Hours of duty to be worked by officers at centres, to be specified biter, were fixed at 38 per week; hours at other places to ho 38 per week with time off for work in excess of that period. Seven hours to constitute an all night shift. Special provisions are recommended governing Sunday work, and the scale of Sunday pay ranges from 3s per hour for officers in receipt of over £270 per annum, to 2s 3d for those getting not more than £165. The bonus to be considered in assessing the rates of pay. Annual leave to be brought to uniformity with the public service provisions and limitations of 42 days, and accumulations to be cancelled. Leave to be cancelled for officers. Other recommendations are made for increased travelling advances, and for reduction of time necessary for a member to serve in any grade to qualify for the maximum superannuation retiring allowance, in respect to such grade. Other recommendations are of minor importance.
