PARLIAMENT
WELLINGTON, June’ 25. Parliament was opened with due formality this afternoon. The GovernorGeneral and Lady Liverpool, attended by their staff, reached thj Legislative Council Chamber at 2.30 and members of tile House of Representatives were immediately summoned, whereupon the Governor read his Speech. THE HOUSE, The House resumed at 3 . o’clock Leave of absence for the session was granted to Hon. A, M. Myers, Mr Hockley gave notice tlqit he would move the Address-iu-Reply at next sitting day, Hon. MacDonald (Leader of thy Op.poitsiop) gave liotjve that he would move ap amendment that Goyerumept did not possess the country’s confidence, and 'Mr Statham gave notice of ap amendment in favour of the adoption of the elective executive system, THE COUNCIL. The Legislative Council met at 3.5 p.m. Leave of absence was granted for the sesion to Hon. Carson.
