SATURDAY’S MATCHES. | The soutliern division football matches lor the senior cup will be continued to-morrow afternoon in thy respective centres. The games set down for play arc Excelsiors v. Kokatahi at Kiwis v. Kumara, at Kumara; and Diggers v. Ross, at Ross. The competition is in an interesting stage at present and to-morrow’s games should prove of decided interest, and result in some close play. The gamo on Cass Square will commence at 3 o’clock sharp and a small charge will be made for ad_ > mission to the ground. Prior to the senior game, commencing at 1.30 o’clock the first game in the junior competition will be played when the State school plays Excelsior juniors.

M ANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. WELLINGTON, Jun e 24

A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held to-night. Tt- was decided to play the South Island country team against Wairarapa at Carterton instead of Masterton, and to alter the date from Angus 4tli to August sth. A letter from the Secretary of the English Union to W. W. Hill, Central Secretary for Australasia, was .read, confirming a cablegram sent urging that no action be taken in regard to playing amended rules. The letter stressed ■the point that the Union desired one universal code and they were awaiting a reply from South Africa. As this rame to hand, the whole matter would he thoroughly gone into.

The proposed rules under which the New Zealand Mounted Division Challenge Cup for secondary schools is to be played were approved. Mr T. H. Jones was appointed manager of the New Zealand team to visit Australia.

The basis upon whic-h negotiations are to he opened with South Africa for their tour in 1921 was approved. The basis is for fifteen matches in New Zealand, eight in the North Island and seven in the South Island. It is proposed, subject to approval of the South African Union, to play matches against New Zealand at Dunedin, Wellington, and Auckland, and a match against the North Island at Wanganui and against the South Island at Christchurch.

Xt was decided to write the Central Secretary for Australasia in Sydney stating that the New Zealand Union is prepared to assist in bringing out a French team.

The New Zealand" team to tour Australia will leave Wellington on July 9th. and playing Auckland the next day. The team is to leave Auckland on July 12th. and will play Palmerston North on July 14th, returning to Wellington and going straight on bortrd the vessel for Australia on July 15th. The New Zealand Referees’ Appointment Board selected Mr J. F. Peake, (Christchurch), as referee for the Ran. furly Shield, Challenge match: Bay of Plenty v. Wellington on June 30th.
