R E F ICR EES’ ASSOCLATK)N. A mooting was held on Tuesday evening for the purpose of forming a Referees’ Association. There was a large attendance -of members and Mr AJ. Houston was voted to the chair. , The following gentlemen were classified as referees—Messrs M. Houston, ]/. Hills, J. Conning, J. Downey, IT. Harker, D. Dowell, M. .Mitchell (Ross), T. (Jilooly and D. Dee. It was resolved that the Association instruct the Southern Division to inform delegates to instruct their teams in the rules of the game. Mr Conning was appointed delegate to the Southern Division. The following referees were recommended for Saturday’s matches:— M r Downey at Ross. Mr Marker at Kumara. M r Conning at Hokitika. • Air Houston junior match at 1.30. Tile Association will meet at regular intervals in future. «
SOUTHERN DIVISION EXECUTIVE
The usual, weekly meeting of the Southern Division was held last night, Mr A. H. Lawn presiding. There were present—'Messrs Dee, Conning, Dowell, Gillooly, Cutbush, Kerr, Bonar, and Heenan (Hon. Sec.) There were three teams nominated for the junior competition—State School, Excelsior and Kiwi. It was resolved that the competition open on Saturday at 1.30 with State school v. Excelsiors, Mr M. Hous ton to referee.
It was resolved that the Hokitika school play Grey School Cup match on July 3rd at 1.30, the school team to be ‘given half of the takings at the gates. Tie Division thanked the Referees .Association for . their recommendation to have all teams instructed in rules of Rugby, and that the delegates see that instructions were carried out. The local representative team intend playing a. rep. match with Grey and Ilian<*nhna Unions if dates could be arranged. Referees reports were handed in. • The following dfelogates weße excused, Messrs Berry and Toohov,_ It was resolved to procure printed forms for names of players in the various teams. V', '
