The House of Lord, after a protest by the Archbishop of Canterbury, carried the third reading of Lord Bucmaster’s Divorce Bill by 151 to 107, extending the grounds of divorce to cover habitual drunkenness, insanity, and do. sertion after three years. The Bill now goes to the House of Commons,

COAL PRICES.

Miners’ delegates attending the Labour Conference considered the Government’s statistics explaining the decrease of 14s per toil in the retail price of coal, and challenge the accuracy of the figures. They declared the increase was unjustifiable and decided to recommend the impending ..Miners’ Conference to demand a big share of the increase. Probably the ' demand will be for 5s per week.

At the Labour Conference Shaw, a member of the Commons moved a resolution condemning the Peace Treaty as destructive, instead of constructive and demanding its revision; also the recognition of the Russian Soviet and arrestation of chaos in Central Europe. Mr Ben Turner, a member of the delegation which recently visited Russia, declared the Soviet was doing its best amid difficulties created by the, British commercial blockade. - Mr 'Smillie praised the action of Hie dockers, in refusing to handle munitions intended for Poland, but he regarded it as the duty of Labour as a whole to take action in the matter There was »rowdy s'cene when the Commoner, Colonel Malone, attempted to spi k.- His credentials were challenged on the grounds that he belonged to the Liberal Party..
