PRINCE’S BIRTHDAY. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 23
Extra interest was centred in the Prince of Wales’s doings to-day owing to it being his birthday. He received many congratulations, and there were frequent impromptu demonstrations in his honour. He attended • a great schools’ birthday display on the Cricket Ground. Twenty thousand children participated in various tableaux, the chief feature being a group forming Prince of Wales feathers, with the words, “ Happy Returns of the Day,” as a base.
Subsequently the Prince visited the University, where the degree of L.L.D. was conferred on him. The weather was brilliant. To-night the Prince is attending the Queen’s Club ball at the Town Hall.
