A NARROW ESCAPE.

Hawker, the airman, had a- thrilling escape, while testing a- 400 h.p. “Sun beam” racing motor car at Bmoklnnds track. He had attained a high '-peed when suddenly the car swerved and left the track. It flashed across the grass border and crashed through a corrugated iron fence in which it-tore a huge gap. Hawker was alone in >he cam He ducked his • head to escape injury, and brought the car to a stand i still. The car’s nose was flattened.
