A QUIET DAY. SYDNEY, June 17. The gfty is taking Itself quietly Today after yesterday’s doings at the Roy. al welcome. To-day’s functions were an investiture of residents with civil or military honours, a ievee at Government House, and the presentation of loyal addresses by a large number of public bodies. Many hundreds of people also availed themselves of the opportunity given for shaking hands with the Prince.
A feature of yesterday’s invasion of the city by visitors was the small patronage of the restaurants. Thi s is largely the result of increased prices. Instead of the expected rush to the restaurants, the people brought their own supplies or brought pnclcet 1 1 mein's. Generally since the meal tariffs were raised, :tho patronage of the restaurants has steadily, decreased.
