GISBORNE, June 13
Tlio Gisborne Steeplechase Meeting concluded yesterday in showery weather, which affected the attendance. During the night heavy rain fell and the cuorse was heavy. The tote took £14,002 against £19,352 last year. The total for the tw days was £25,875, com. pared with £36,349 last year, a decrease of £10,474. Results:— HURDLES, —Cymcr 1, "Cross AVords 2, Loki Fox 3.*'Won by a head. Time 3.24. "
MAIDEN HACK HANDICAP,—Annata 1, Whanoki 2, AVaikohu 3. AVon by a neck. Time 1.6. AVAIKANE HANDlCAP,—Patetonga 1, Gazique 2, Persian King 3. AVon by a head. Time 1.48. Acquittal feel and broke his fctlocJc, and had to be destroyed. The rider was not iyjured.
TE HAPARA STEEPLES.—Fagot 1, Only two starters: Brunswick fell and the rider injured his collarbone. Allan Stevens (Clerk of'the Courp) rode to thq hurdle and mounted-Brunswick and set out for second money. AA r hen half the distance was over, Rigney mounted Brunswick and finished the race. At a meeting of the stewards it was decided that no second money could bo given to Rigney as his horse was mounted the third time without the second rider being thrown. The Stewards commented on the sporting action of Rigney in mounting Brunswick to finish the race. No time was taken. / SECOND HACK FLAT,—Tieki 1, AVhanoko 2, Grengyle 3. AVon by two lengths, third one length off. Time 1.19.

LONDON, June 12. , Frank Bullock is riding with considerable success. There has scarcely been a meeting of importance where he has not been in a place. Since the 22nd March he lias ridden 23 winners. Donoghuc is the leading joc-key. He has sheered 43 winners. Carslake (the Australian) has had 25 wins. These are the best averages. Ascot AVeek promises to outshine any pre-war brilliance. The stand and Royal Pavilion have been thoroughly renovated. The (awns and flower beds are in perfect condition. The Royalties will attend every day.. Society circles are on tip-toe of expectation, 'and given fine weather, it is expected to be the gayest Ascot on record.
