AUCKLAND, June 5. The Auckland branch of the Educatonni Institute to-day received the re-

port of the delegates to the recent con-

ference in Wellington of inspectors and teachers. The meeting passed a

unanimous resolution in condemnation’

of the reduction in marks of Auckland

teachers, and also in the latest fewdinf , regulations, stating that those lattei were inequitable and discredited bj the resolution passed at the Wellingtoi i conference. The meeting further re 'commended that the managing committee conuniincate with the Ministet and also to 'later form a 'deputation in I support of the protest. The opinion j was further expressed that the present Assistant Director of Education, who had been' been concerned in an unfortunate friction between the department. and the Auckland teachers, should pot be a member of the Auckland Teachers’! Appeal Board for 1920, particularly as it was understood, he was not a member of the Board of Teachers’ Court of Appeal in other districts. It was also decided to ask the Auckland Education Board to support the resolution which was passed, to the effect that no decrease in salaries should be made in consequence of the recent reduction in grading of Auckland teachers. Finally,' it was .unanimously resolved that it. he requested that no alteration .in educational legislation or regulations be made unless fho proposed' alteration he first submitted to the New Zealand Educational Institute for consideration.
