A STRANGE STORY. (Received This Day at' 8 a .m.l NEW YORK, June 2,
A New York Times message from Paris says the Paris newspaper “Intransigeapt” prints an amazing story of a secret war council in Borlip, which it is alleged discussed an immediate war with Franco and Poland. According to this story, the General Staff reported three hundred thousand troops were available for use against Poland and seven hundred thousand against France. Bolshevik aid was certain, and there were new classes of young men to draw upon. The Anglo-American attitude was uncertain, hut the conclusion had been reached that France would receive a free hand and the plan was accordingly dropped. THE POPE AND ITALY. NEW YORK, June 2. A telegram from Rome says the Catholic Kings, Alfonso and Albert, suggested liftihg the bqn on visits by Catholic sovereigns to the-Italian King.
