ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

A QUIET SALE.

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:—

Fat Cattle.—There was a medium yarding and the quality of steers was good, but heifers and cows were plain except in isolated cases. The demand was firm at late rates except unfinished. Extra steers sold to £29 ss; prime £2l 6s to £24; unfinished, £l3 10s to £l6; cows and heifers £lO to £l2 5s and up to £lB 10s. for very heavy. Store cattle, —Only a few pens were yarded no expert buyers operating. One peri for extra big 5-vear old steers ex Chatham Islands made £l4 7s 6d; a small pen of good station calves made £4 17s Cd; 18 months steers £4 10s to £5 os; dry cows were practically unsaleable.

frit sheep.—A rather gniaHer yarding including a very mixed entry. Good sheep were firmer, hut medium and inferior sorts were not so keen. Freezing buyers were operating sparingly. Best wethers sold to 55s 9d, primo 42s to 48s 6d; good 34s 6d to 465; others 27s 6d to 335; best ewes 445; prime 27s 6d to 35s 6d; medium 23s 6d to 275; others 16s to 22s 6d, lambs were the same as last week.

Store sheep.—A smaller entry than last week mostly South sheep, in which there was a decided drop. . The majority of the yarding was passed at auction. Best wethers to 30s; others 23s to 255; best lambs 20s to 11s 6d. No good ewes were yarded. Inferior sorts, fine 10s 6d to 14s; better sorts up to 255. One line of good two-tooth wethers made 27s 6d.
