SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT. 1 have tlie’’ honour to report, that during the year now ended, the attendance of members has been very satisfactory, both at practice musters and fires, and T will take this opportunity of thanking you, for the great interest you have shown in carrying on the work of tlie Brigade. This interest is very pleasing to me. and makes the duties of the Deputy and myself of a very light and pleasant nature, and is mainly responsible for tho high standard of work performed by you at fires. On your behalf I desire to heartily thank all those ex-members, who while the Great War lasted, and our active members were being called on to seive at the front, so unselfishly placed their services at our disposal, and so enabled us to carry on successfully, and I now assure them of a cordial welcome at all our functions.
During the visit of tlie Prince of Wales to Hokitika we were called upon to provide a fire patrol for Keller’s building, anti the Town Hall, and 1 'thank you for the ready manner in which you met the call, and also lor the quiet and efficient way you carried out this duty.
A gratifying feature of our Brigade is the high esteem it continues to be held in by the young men of the town. This happy fact enables us to keep our muster roll full, and enables probationary' members to gain a considerable amount of useful knowledge during the time they are waiting for a vacancy to occur.
I desire to place on record the otic great and grave anxiety wo liaVe. ft lias been apparent for some time that the Borough water supply is not sufficient to meet all the demands made on it, and if some steps to overcome this difficulty, are not taken in the near future I feel that in the event of a serious outbreak of fire, serious, trouble may be looked for, more especially during the summer months. A generous measure of thanks is due to the Borough turncock, (Mr Maunder) for his careful handling of a difficult situation, a situation which must give him some anxiety. I must also thank Mr Andre was for his courtesy to your Officers, and his kindly interest m our welfare. In conclusion I wish to thank Deputy Superintendent Davidson and yourseives for your ready and loyal support at all times, which I assure you is a source ol great pleasure to me. —Received.
