CROWD’S REVENGE ON JUNKER
OFFICERS.
BERLIN, March 20
The population of Berlin has rounded upon the retiring Baltic troops to revenge itself 4or the latter’s attempt to instil a Junker regime by violence. A ghastly lyncliing ol : Baltic officers occurred in the suburb of Sclioneberg last night. Twenty of them, who liad been quartered in Scboneberg Town Hall during the Junkers’ rule, behaved I in an arrogant and provocative manner last night when the Baitic troops were withdrawn. .They prepared to leave m a, motor-lorry when a dense mob ot angry people gathered in front of the Town Hall and barred tho way. The officers were dragged out ot the lorry one by one, struggling desperately, and the wild mob'beat and stamped and kicked them to death. This afternoon a similar occurrence took place at tlie Brandenburg Gate. Four officers of the Baltic troops, for, some unknown reason, tried to enter j the oity in a motor-car. The green, police on duty at the gate stopped . them. Immediately the crowd there , surged forward to attack the officers, j One of these drew a revolver and hie . Then a green policeman standing on top of a tank guarding the gate threw a bomb at the officers. Some of crowd were wounded by the bomb but all the Baltic officers were Hied. Ihe bodies were carried mto the Hotel Ad lon, from the windows of which a reporter watched the affair-^
