: v. EXCELSIORS. The above junior match for the Fowler Cup took place on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock and resulted in an easy win for the Excelsiors by 22 points to nil. The winners were by far the heavior team and the Kiwis played with 13 men.

MARISTS . (Grey) v. HOKITIKA The first senior game between the above teams was .played on Cass Square on Saturday afternoon after the junior match. Neither side had their selected team and the game was a bit scraggjHokitika kicked off and play was taken to their 25. Betliune put in. a defensive kick and the ball rebounded off a Marist player and several of the Marists bad'tlie ball to themselves, but they kicked too hard and O’Connor just saved in time. Duncraft intercepted a passing run of tlie Marists and-put in a splendid dash to the full-back and being unsupported a sure score was lost Here a’ free ‘kick was allowed Hokitika and J. Carson kicked a nice goal—3 to nil. This score livened up Hokitika and they took play to the Marists’ line and a force saved. Marists next put in some good work and a dangerous rush was stopped nicely by Dowell. Play'’continued up, and down and Marists were awarded a free kick in a pretty good position and though Deeie made" a fine attempt no score resulted. Half time was called soon after.

On resuming Marists put in a- lot of solid work and their form was seen to be better than the home team. Dowell stayed a rush under the goal posts with a. lucky kick and play went back to midfield. From another i usli Marists scored, but Deere failed to add the points 3 all. Hokitika once more livened up and shifted play to the other end and in a loose scramble, Devaney scored an easy try. Carson, failed with the kick 6 to 3.' A fine kick by Deere took the „ame to Hokitika’S 25 and Dowell again saved with a good kick. Marists continued the pressure and Hokitika s form was now completely .spent and from a defensive kick Marists marked. Deere kicked a nice goal and made the scores even just on time. Mr L. Hills was referee.
