Miss Erin O’Reilly met with a nasty accident last Friday- She was cycling Town the Terrace Hill, Greymouth, when the handle bare of her bicycle broke. Miss O’Reilly was thrown on her face and suffered rather severe injuries. A special meeting of the Westland County Councill will be held at 10 o’clock on Tuesday morning next to meet the Hon. Minister of Public Works at Arahura. The Council will wait on the Minister at night at 7.30 o’clock, when deputation business will be taken. The football inter-club matches will be commenced on Cass Square to-moi-row afternoon, when the juniors’ game, Kiwi’s v. Excelsior’s, will take place at 1,30 p.m., and the senior game, Hokitika v. Another serious accident touk place yesterday at-the Ten Mile Creek on the road to Barrytown. Mr and Mrs Poschioh were coming in from Barrytown to Greymouth. When crossing the Ten Mile Creek the trap overturned, and the occupants were thrown into the water. Almost all their gear was washed out to sea, Mrs Poscliicli being paiticularly unlucky in losing a handbag containing oyer £l4. In deed it is a marvel that’We do not have to record n more serious accident, and the time will come, unless the authorities push ahead the bridging of this stream, when a tragedy will be reported from the Hen Mile.—-Argus.
