THE COMING SEASON. The outlook for the coming Rugby season in Hokitika and surrounding districts is particularly bright. In combining all the local senior teams vo procure a. really first class representative combination, a- step has been taken that ia at on'ce 'calculated to place the best possible team against outside teams and that will allow the junior competition for the Fowler Gup to be fought out with first class players representing each club. Country districts, in order to provide players for a senior and junior team each, have, in the past been compelled to put unbalanced and impoverished combinations in the field. But this year, the idea has been adopted, of placing one really first class senior team to represent the Southern Division, while the residue of players will he able to take part with their respective teams, in the junior competition which should, on that account 1 e of special and lively interest. This step has been taken “for the sake of- the game,” and the sporting public, who are always ready to appreciate true sport ,will find that the coming Rugby season in Hokitika District will bo fraught with exciting and interesting play. The “kick off” will take place on Cass Square on Saturday next when Kiwis and Excelsiors will do battle for the laurels of supremacy at 1.45 p.m., and the senior match Hokitika v. Marists (Grey) at 3.15 p.m. sharp. Mr Conning will referee the junior match.
