[l’Ell riIESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] ABSENT STOKERS. AUCKLAND, May 6. Three stokers of H.M.S. Renown were charged at the Police Court with being absent without leave. They said I hey bail made iip their mind to try Colonial life. They were discovered without uniform, received little attention, got no work, were out of money and surrendered to the police. They were ordered to bo returned to tho Renown at Wellington.
MENTAL PATIENTS DEATH. AUCKLAND, May (5. A patient in the Mental Hospital, Adolphus H. Morris, was killed- by a fall, believed while attempting; to escape through a window by a down pipe. DEALING WITH /GRIEVANCES. WELLINGTON, May 5. The Minister of 'Education, the Hon C. J. Parr, lias announced that Cabinet has decided to pay a bonus to teachers in the same way as other branches of the Public Services. The Prime Minister stated today that the railwaymen’s grievances will be dealt with next week, and the Post and Telegraph Officers’ requests this following week. A GREY MOUTH GRIEVANCE. GREYMOUTR, This Day. There is great disappointment by the Grey Returned Soldiers at the Prince of Wales not opening their Club rooms as anticipated. The authorities have taken, half: an hour off the time origin ally allotted Greymouth. This, if retained, would be sufficient to carry out the ceremony. Local bodies are taking up the question.
