The sun shone brightly during .the visit of the Prince of Wales to Masterton to-day. Thousands of people lined the streets and cheered the Royal party as it drove through to the public park, where a welcome eeromony was held. The scene in the Park was one of enthusiasm. The town was ablaze witli bunting, and the Park festooned with evergreens.
After the children hud sung a verse of “God Bless the Prince of Wales,” accompanied by bands the Mayor, Mr 1 Jackson presented His Royal Highness with a magnificent album containing an address by children and views of the town. The Prince suitably replied, amidst cheers. Ho afterwards shook hands with about two hundred returned .soldiers, who marched past. He then inspected cadets and assembled children, and planted an English oak. He drove away to the railway station after spend ing about twenty minutes in the Park. He was tumultuously cheered. There was scene of great enthusiasm , at the station as the train steamed out, and tiie Prince shook hands with all and sundry and waved a farewell.
PRINCE REACHES WELLINGTON WELLINGTON, May 5.
The Royal train reached Wellington to-night after a day spent by the Prince of Wales in receiving addresses and viewing soldiers and children at every, considerable centre along the line, lie also tested the comfort of the enginemen’s quarters on a big iron horse, but lie found them not quite so comfortable as bis owq carriage.
Wellington was reached at 7.30 and the Bripce was welcomed by huge crowds qf people who packed deeprated the illuminated streets from the station to Governmept House, and gave him the warmest of welcome,
RENOWN REACHES WELLINGTON WELLINGTON, May 5.
11.M.5. Renown rap into a head wind between Napier and Wellington, but did 20 knots, She, however, shipped considerable seas. The vessel rounded Point Halswell at "3.55 p,m, and ■by 4:23 p.m, was berthed at King’s Whari. Thousands of school children on Oriental Parade bailed the Renown with applause as she steamed up the harbour.*

Welington to-day glave tile Prince of Wales an official welcome, in a manner which while not transcending the spontaneous outburst of enthusiasm which greeted him last night, was yet a wonderland in its warmth and sincerity of expression. Crowds early began to line the route from Government Hqus* to the Town Hall via Kent Terrace, 'Manners Street and Cuba Street. The enthusiasm grew m intensity till by the time the Town Hall was reached It was indescribably, T|ip Prince w;is standing in has ear practically all the way, acknowledging the vociferous plaudits pi the crowds. At the Town Hall, thy Mayor (Hon, Liiky.) received, hi,s 'Hig|i-ues-s agd presented ap ad<JiV,ss from the citizynij', tn>' Br-mee replying in graceful words expressive of his pleasure at the sight of the wonderful city grown-up in° so short a time from the primeval forest and fern land bordering Uoneke harbour. This afternoon (tip Prince attended, a Government luncheon and he to a military review in Newtown Park.
