THE TEACHERS’ PAY. WELYLINGTON, April 29.

In view of the fact that an announcement has been made of the payment to various Departments of the Civil Service of a cost of living bonus, and that no similar announcement has been made to members of the teaching profession, the following telegram was'to-day despatched to tile Minister of Education. “We observe the statement in the press that a bonus is being paid to officers of various deaprtmeiits of the Civil Service, but no similar announcement has been made regarding teachers. We trust that in justice to a class of public servants who in many instances live in conditions most unfavourable, you will safeguard their interests by arranging for simultaneous payment of bonus to.them also.
