SAN REMO CONFERENCE
SENSIBLE ADVICE. (Imperial News Service.) (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 26. Hon Lloyd George, when returning from the Conference ac San Remo, received French journalists, and emphasised that the settlement left no question of principal outstanding. He <le- ' dared .he never discouraged the employment of military means for enforcing the Treaty, hut Germans should not be ) prevented from restoring order. In stressing the necessity for Anglo-French unity, Hon Lloyd George maintained there had been no disagreement, although. there had been difficulties. He urged them not to magnify insects into rhinoceroses. The British and French must make allowances for the difference of temperaments. He hoped in any future difficulties that they would talk the matter over together and not fire at long range. ' ,
SAN REMO DECISIONS. (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) . . LONDON, April 26. San y Remo messages states Signor Nitti proposed to make Fiume a buffer State. M. Millorand and Hon. Lloyd George at present are not favourable. It is reported the Allies have decided to allow Germany an army of 160,000, and should the necessity for it be proved, further concessions may be dependent upon the Reichswhei s complete evacuation of the Ruhr district.
