The ordinary meeting of the Ross Bor ougli Council took place on Thursday, evening. Present:—S. P. Evans, Esq. (Mayor) Councillors, M. H. Liiistrom, F. Moore, H. McMullan, W. Hamilton, AY. Upjohn and N. J. Phillips. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and the outward correspondence was approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE.
From Traffic Manager, re train service during Prince of Wales’ visit.—Re coived and referred to School Committee for consideration. From District Valuer, asking tor. valuation of some Ross town sections.—Received ; already supplied. From Town Clerk, Hokitika, asking for particulars of licensing revenue ior the purpose of apportioning the cost of administration over contributors’ bodies.—Received and supplied. From Hon Minister of Public Works, thanking Council for congratulations, and promising to give his attention to the completion of East and West Coast railway.—Received. From Westland Chamber of Commerce, inviting Council to form in constituting an electric power district. Received ; resolved to accede to the re-
quest. From Westland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, forwarding statement levies proposed to be made on the contributory bodies for the ensuing year.— Received. After discussion it was decided to approve of same. From Treasury, notifying remittance of Goldfields revenue, £8 17s for the month of February.—-Received. From Bank of N.Z., forwarding documents in connection with application for overdraft.— Received and referred to Town Clerk for completion. From National Electrical and Engineering Cov., Christchurch, quoting for a larger dynamo which it is proposed to instal for town lighting purposes.—Received; consideration held over until some enquiries are made. From Dunedin City Council, asking Council’s co-operation in endeavouring to have a State bonus granted to parents of large families. —Received and resolved to support request.
From John Minelian, ashing for permission to erect gate on track leading to Donnelly’s creek foot bridge.—Deceived and request granted. Cr. Moore (Chairman of Public Works Committee), reported on repairs to Donoghue’s and Beach road, stating about one week would complete same.— Received and approved. It was resolved to call tenders returnable on 12t-h May, for the lease of one 5 acre paddock and two 6 acre paddocks on Beach road. The meeting then adjourned.
TENNIS CLUB. A meeting of the Tennis Club was held in the Coronation Hall on Thursday evening. The President (S. P. Evans, Esq.), presided over a fair attendance of members. The Secretary presented a. balance sheet which showed the amount in hand to be £2l. It was resolved to open an account at the Post Office Savings Bank in the name of Messrs Boyle and Peebles. The matter of having sufficient gravel carted from the beach for the completion of the court was left in the hands of the President and A. AV. Peebles to attend to. After several other tennis uiattcis were discussed, the meeting adjourned.
LIME COMPANY. The directors of the Ross Lime Company meet at Ross next Wednesday, when an inspection will he made of the new construction works. The erection of the pulveriser and crusher are now nearing completion when it is expected to supply the farmers with a splendid article at a cheaper rate than heretofore.
