PEACE TREATY
[AUKTItALIAN <fc K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] OTTOMAN’S NEW STATE. PARIS, April 17. “Le Matin” foreshadows that the Turkish Peace Treaty will cause Turkey to lose half its inhabitants. It says that only nine million Mahommedans and two million Christians will remain under the Turkish flag. Thus about ten million Arabs, Armenians' and Greeks will bo liberated. “ Lesser Turkey,” as the new State is to be called, will be closely watched by the Allies. Its constitution and its army will be such as to prevent future trouble. The paper points out that Palestine, Syria, Arabia, and Mesopotamia wiT be taken from Turkey. Whether - the Ottoman Government is allowed to remain at Constantinople or not, the city (it says) will be placed on an international footing, Armenia, it adds, will become a new State.
