ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATION.

A conference was held at the County Chambers last evening relative to the observance of Angac Day. Representatives of the War Memorial Committee were present, as also Revd Dr .Holloway representing the clergy, Mr Richards the band, and Messrs Downey, Morgan and Solomon, the returned soldiers. Mr Downey explained on behalf of tire soldiers that it was desired to hold a church parade at 10.30 o’clock, the men to attend their own churches. After the services the men would reassemble at the Digger’s Monument, and a procession to Cass Square would be formed, headed by the band. The returned soldiers would provide a firingparty. On entering the grounds* the party would reverse arms and march to the site for the memorial. There addresses, prayer and hymns would be delivered; the soldiers would fire threo volleys and the Last Post would lie sounded.

This form of commemoration had been adopted by the, Headquarters of the Soldiers’ Association, and was approved. Dr Holloway promised to see tiie co-clergy regarding the selection of hymns and order of service. It was agreed that there should be one address oi:!y. A sub-committee was formed to carry out the details, which will be fixed finally at a meeting to-morrow evening. The service on Cass Square was fixed for noon, the Mayor to preside.
