This is the second day of the collections for the Westland War Memorial, and at noon to-day the total stood at £ll7 10s leaving a balance of £1382 10s to raise in the next eight days. The Hon. H. E. Michel has donated £25 to the war memorial fund. (Letters have been addressed to about fifty of the principal dailies throughout "New Zealand notifying the local movement for a war memorial, and inviting ex-Westland residents to subscribe. ,A meeting of the local committee

was held last evening, there being a good attendance present. Satisfactory reports were received in respect to the opening of the collecting campaign yesterday. It was resolved to communicate with the Borough Council, relative to placing the locality, of the site in suitable order. For the convenience of probably subscribers who might not be called on by the collectors, it was resolved to open premises in Revell Street to-morrow, and next Saturday nights for the receipt of contributions. Mr Preston placed his shop fronting Weld Street at the disposal of the Committee, the offer being accepte with, 'thanks. It was reported that the lists at the schools were filling satisfactorily. The draft list of the Roll of Honor was submitted, and contains considerably over 100 names. In order to get assistance in completing the compilation of the full list, it "as resolved to publish the list provisionally ! with a view to inviting the addition I of names which may be found to he omitted. This is to' be done as soon as ' ' possible. Messrs Perry, Bruce, Wild Evans and Hon. Michel were appointed a sub-committee to confer in regard to j the proceedings relating to the layiiic ' o f the foundation stone on Anzac Day.
