AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the above Association was held in the County Chambers on the 10th, at S p.m. There were present ; —Mr G. Davidson (Chairman), Dr Teichelmann, Messrs Stuart, Seale, . Simpson, Williams and Perham (Secretary). The request of the Royal Visit Committee to convey the Royal party from and to the railway station, was brought up, and it was resolved in the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Dr Teichelmann, that the request be acceded to, and the majority of the cars required was arranged for. The matter of the delay of bridging the rivers in South Westland was discussed at some length, and in view of the fact that several parties going to the Glaciers had to return lately, it was resolved that the Canterbury Automobile Association be communicated with, asking them to use their endeavours to get the work pushed on, as there is no excuse for the present delay, which is causing inconvenience to travellers using the South road, besides being dangerous. The rivers referred to arc the Little Waitaha, Little Wanganui. Waitangi and the Tatare. It was resolved, also, to use v every endeavour to have the streams bridged mi the Kumara-Otira Road, the Canterbury Automobile Association having intimated that it would assist in having that important work accomplished. It was unanimously decided to approach the Public Works Department and use every endeavour to get the work started. It was also decided at the meeting that Mr Parkinson of the Kanieri Lake Hotel, lie communicated with requesting him to keep a record of traffic to the lake to include motor cars, vehicles and the numbers of people visiting the lake for the purpose of proving to the authorities as may he the justification for improvements to the Kanieri Lake road. After other matters of importance were discussed, the meeting closed at 10 p.m. The next meetings will be held on the first Saturday in each month in lieu of the second Saturday.
