GREY RACES. GREYMOUTH, April 10. The Grey Jockey Club’s races were held in fine weather, a large attendance and good racing The totalisator handled £9475 against £6208 for seven races at the corresponding meeting last year. Trial Handicap—3 Pahalca, (8.6) 1 ; 5 Aiisamon, (8.1) 2; 1 Cheer Up (8.13) 3. Also started: —2 Hokitika, 4 Jewel Piece. Won by a length from Aiisamon, with Cheer Up a similar distance behind third. Time 1.12 3-5 . Flying Handicap,—2 Pariform, (9.4) 1; 5 Hymettius (9.12) 2; 6 Parlovna (7.8) 3. Also started:—l Greekson, 3 War Tax, 4 Tyson, 7 Chudic. Won by a length from Hymettius, the rest of the field being close up. Time 1.5 3-5. Hannan Memorial Handicap,—l Consultation (7.11) 1; Rosevear (9.5) 2; 5 Rang! Arolia (8.3) 3. Also started : 2 Benefit, 3 Restful 6 Lady Middleton. From an even dispatch Rosevear showed the way to Benefit and Lady Middleton, Restful tailing the field. Passing the stand for the first time the order was unchanged, though Consultation and Restful were closing up with the leaders. Rounding the back straight, the field was hunched, Benefit and Lady Middleton giving way to Rangi Aroha. Entering the home stretch Consultation had taken command, and finishing well won comfortably from Rosevear by a length with Rangi Aroha close up third. Timo 2.14 3-5. Yarrall Memorial Handicap,—2 Divorce (8.12) 1; 4 Tunic (8.10) 2; 3 Tantalus (8.9) 3. Also started: —1 Lady Lucullus. A stipendiary enquiry was held into the riding of Trask, and the latter was cautioned for boring. Won by a neck. Time 1.20 1-5. Electric Handicap.—3 Chudic (7.13) 1; 2 Greekson (8.6) 2; 1 Kolyma (8.13) 3. Also started:—4 Rora. Won by a neck. Time 1.13. Welter Handicap,—4 War Tax (8.13) 1; 3 Dick (9.0) 2; 2 Nautical, (10.7) 3. Also started: —1 Fabisco, 5 Silver Shield. War Tax stalled off a challenge by Dick and prevailed by a short head, with Nautical half a length behind. Time 1.33.
Easter Handicap.—] Rosevear (9.9) 1; 3 Woodrow (7.7) 2; 2 Benefit (10.3) 3. Also started: 4 Rangi Aroha, 5 Lady Lucullus, 6 Lady Middleton. Won by three lengths. Timo 1.27 3-5.
Farewell Handicap,—Cheer Up (7.13) 1; 4 Tyson (9.1) 2; Pariform (9.13) 3. Also started,:l Hymettius, 3 Divorce, 6 Hokitika. Cheer Up came with a fast sprint, and got up in time to beat Tyson by a. head, with Pariform a length behind, third. Time 1.12 1-5.
