The clip is much shorter in staple and lower in addition than previous clips, less wool being yielded per sheep. It is estimated there is fully a ten per cent, shortage. North Island wools bear the bigger proportion-of this shortage. Indications point to finer wools bringing exceptionally high prices in the next few years, whilst it is doubtful whether lower qualities will maintain their present valuations.

CHARGE OF THEFT, AUCKLAND, April 2 Oscar Paul Faireurn, ag>l 22, pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial on a charge of having stolen £IOO front H. W, Sim, a returned Australian soldier, whose body was discovered in the harbour recently. Evidence was given that licensed changed a Commonwealth Bank note for £IOO into New Zealand money.
