NEW COAL SEAM
DISCOVERED at STATE mines. RUNANGA, April 2 A splendid new coal seam was discovered in Bovan’s Tunnel, at tlio Liverpool Mines last Meduesday afternoon. Tlie seam has so far been proven to be 9 feet ,6 inches thick and is still
making. It is coal of a splendid quality. Over fifty boxes of this coal are on the road to the Rcwanui Bins at the present time. This seam was struck between twenty-ono and cwmty-tv.j chains in from the mouth of the tunnel
The coal was not expected to be readied before tho tunnel bad been driven thirty-six chains. The scam rises to the mountain, and experts declare that this is a splendid indication of a very largo area of coal. This discovery shows that the State Mines —with proper developmental work carried on—will become tlic most valuable asset tbc country has pot. It is understood that the State Mine, management will start working this scam at once. If so this is another reason that the electric hoist should be installed immediately, so ns to give workers a. reasonable facility for getting to and from their work.
