ROYAL VISIT TO HOKITIKA.
GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS. *
.Mr R. S. Galbraith has been added to the executive of the Reception Committee.
School children attending the functions at Hokitika will be expected to know the Welsh national songs “God Save the Prince of Wales,” and “Land of My Fathers.” The words will be published shortly, and the music will be supplied to school teachers desiring copies on application to Mr Evans, County Office. Maori children of the district will be specially grouped on the occasitfti of the Prince’s inspection of the children in Sewell Street on May 13th. During, the function they will he stationed n front of the Seddon statue and will accord His Highness a welcome in native fashion. Clubs, associations or citizens who are prepared to undertake any special decorations or illuminations along the line of route are requested to notify

some distinctive arches will be erected through this channel. Any country town desiring to co-operate s-milarly until some distinctive decoration or welcome on behalf of tlieir community will ho provided with special space along the lino of route if they will notify their desires. Children from country districts may he grouped specially under banners jr flags notifying their district and conveying appropriate greetings to the Prince of Wales. Lodges desiring to display suitable banners will be provided with asembly space also, upon application. a>
Mr Seddon M.P. who will be here next week will confer with the Reception Committees regarding general arrangements for the several functions proposed, and will supply particulars as to the general line of action to be followed.
Miss Micbel has been added to the Town Hall reception committee, the ladies of which will meet immediately te decide as te a scheme of internal decoration for the large hall. Masses of flowers will bo required for decorative purpose during the Royal visit. Growers of chrysanthemums are particularly desired to supply as much bloom as possible fQJE inside decorations. Best cultivated blooms supplied ill be reserved for special purposes, and gifts of these will he very welcome.
'Hie services of the Municipal Band ivi’l bo utilised during the visit, and
the band has been asked to prepare a special programme of music to include in particular Welsh national airs. The Cambrian Society of Christchurch has offered to lend any assistance possible with regard to the national items —and the offer is being availed of.
